A graduate of La Fémis, Gertrude Baillot began her career in 2002 as director of photography on Claire Doyon's feature film Les lionceaux (Cannes, Directors' Fortnight 2003), and co-directed the documentary Les enfants du fond du lac for Arte. She then devoted herself exclusively to her work as director of photography and cameraman for 10 years. She was responsible for the images in over 50 films of all lengths, both fiction and documentary, selected for the most prestigious festivals (Cannes, TIFF, Cinéma du Réel, etc.). Experiences in theatrical lighting design punctuate her career devoted to the moving image.
