The 33rd Camerimage Festival is currently taking place in Toruń, Poland. Once again this year, the festival highlights very few women cinematographers. Here are the numbers for the 2025 edition:


Main Competition

14 films are in this competition, 3 are shot by women : 21%.


Documentary Feature Competition

6 films are in this competition, none are shot by a woman : 0%.


Polish Feature Film Competition

5 films are in this competition, only 1 is shot by a woman : 20%.


Director's Debuts Competition

10 films are in this competition, 3 are shot by women : 30%.


Cinematographer's Debuts Competition

7 films are in this competition, one of which is shot by two cinematographers (one man and one woman). Out of 8 cinematographers in total, 2 are women : 25%.


Across all feature-length competitions, 42 films are selected, and 8 of them are shot by a woman. This means that 19% of the feature films are photographed by a female cinematographer for the 2025 edition of Camerimage, representing a 12% increase compared to 2024.


Documentary Short Films Competition

7 films are in this competition, and none of them are shot by a woman, meaning 0%.


Music Videos Competition

15 films are in this competition, 3 of them are shot by women, including one duo, which represents 19%.


Student Shorts and Student Art Films Competition

23 films are in this competition, 5 are shot by women : 22%.
